COVID19 pandemic update: We have resumed delivery of Paediatric First Aid courses for people where it is essential for their job role. We will monitor the situation closely and operate within Government guidelines. Should that guidance change and you have booked Paediatric First Aid training and we are unable to deliver the session, we will move you to the next available date when the session will be delivered which is convenient for you. Please watch for further updates.

We have carried out a full risk assessment and have put measures in place to minimize any risk. Our classes will be following social distancing guidelines and we have adjusted practical assessments to avoid physical contact with other students. If you have any questions or concerns our staff team will be happy to speak with you.

Paediatric First Aid and Common Core Skills are two of our most popular sessions! Click this hotlink if you want to go straight to Common Core Skills, read below about 12 hr Paediatric First Aid:

This accredited full paediatric first aid course suitable for both the Ofsted Compulsory and Voluntary registers is taught by blended learning. Learners are each given their own unique login code to access 6 hours interactive paediatric first aid training. Log in is available 24/7 when it’s most convenient for learners to do the course which minimises disruption if you are working during the day. The E-Learning segment can be easily accessed from computers, laptops and tablets. Students can choose to complete this module in one go or by logging in and out as they complete each segment.

When learners have completed this 6-hour module they will attend a one-day practical and theoretical session on one of our classroom dates in one of our Training Rooms.

Classroom day sessions run from 9.15-5.00 and are taught in one of our training rooms (July and August in Bow, London – 5 minutes walk from Mile End Station) from September we hope to return to our Holborn training room, close to Holborn Tube Station, London.

Rest assured that by choosing Riverside Cares to deliver your training, you will always be taught by a highly experienced trainer whose aim is to ensure you know what to do should a medical accident or emergency occur.

The course:

QNUK Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RFQ)

  • 1-day training in your setting (6 hrs or 2x 3 hrs) preceded by completing a self-guided E-Learning module accessible via the internet with special log-in and full support supplied by Riverside Cares
  • Teaching dates available throughout the year
  • This course complies with both the Ofsted voluntary and compulsory registration requirements
  • Fully certificated for 3 years
  • Suitable for early years settings, child-minders, creches, schools and anyone who wishes to equip themselves with this vital knowledge
  • Idea course for staff undertaking the responsibilities associated with being a First Aider in an early-years setting.
  • An excellent choice for Early Years practitioners who require a Paediatric First Aid qualification which meets the requirements of the EYFS.

Attendees will be required to demonstrate first aid procedures as they would in a real work environment, for example providing CPR to a casualty on the floor

Department of Education legislation requires all newly qualified level two and three childcarers in Early Years settings to have either an emergency paediatric first aid or full paediatric first-aid certificate. Riverside Cares offers both courses.

This qualification is available to those over 16 years.

Due to the language of the assessment, it is recommended that learners have sufficient command of the English language (if you have English as a second language we would suggest equal to functioning English L2) in order to understand the assessment and to undertake the recommended assessment methods.

Attendees will be required to demonstrate First Aid procedures as they would in a real work environment. This includes providing CPR to a casualty who is on the floor, therefore be physically capable of doing so.

Early Years settings are legally required to have on-site at all times at least one person with a valid full 12-hour paediatric first aid certificate the person needs to be available on-site and when the setting accompanies children on trips.

Please note that candidates between the age of 14-16 years can undertake the qualification, however, they should not be relied upon by employers to be a sole first aider.

Attendees will be required to demonstrate first aid procedures as they would in a real work environment, for example providing CPR to a casualty on the floor
