Managing Challenging Behaviour Confidently: 75 Minute, Small Group Session For Parents and At-Home Childcarers

£20.00

Thursday 15 November 2018

10.45am to 12.00pm

Are you having to deal with challenging or difficult behaviour from your child or children you look after?

Let’s face it, every child has one of those moments when tempers flare which can quickly morph into them throwing, kicking or shouting.  In the midst of it, you can feel quite helpless and having the tools to react appropriately can be invaluable.  You can learn how to diffuse a situation and support a child to develop and gain the skills they need to regulate their behaviour.

We’ll be talking about effective strategies that you can use and how you feel when you are at the receiving end of the challenging behaviour, whether it is refusing to wear certain clothes or it is a full-blown tantrum. We’ll explore how you feel when the tantrum is in full flight and how you can help a child to regulate their behaviour.

This practical 75 minute, small group session looks at strategies you can adapt to promote positive behaviour in children aged one to eight years.

Epilepsy Training And Responding to Seizures For Schools and Early Years: 3 Hrs In Your Setting

Supporting Children With Epilepsy. 3-hour course £280 for up to 20 staff

Launch Price Autumn 2018

This vital course teaches what epilepsy is and the necessary skills required to look after a child with this condition. You will learn how to provide any additional day to day support which might be required, as well as learning how to respond in an emergency situation.

You will be taught about the different types of epilepsy and understand the impact they each can have on individual children.

The course will explore the various medication programmes children may be prescribed and the impact these may have.

The theoretical components of administrating emergency medication will be covered during the training course.

The course will be delivered in your setting on a mutually agreed date.

Additional travel expenses may apply outside of London postcodes

Small groups of up to 8 students can be taught in our training room at Westferry

Why This Course Matters

The Children and Families Act 2014 introduced the legal obligation that schools must provide appropriate care for children with medical conditions. Riverside Cares’ epilepsy training will ensure that staff will confidently understand the condition and have the appropriate knowledge to manage seizures. The training course is designed to support a School in fulfilling its responsibility to provide equality of access to learning and to ensure all children have the opportunity to be included in all school activities.

One in every 220 children will have a diagnosis of epilepsy. That’s an average of one child with epilepsy in every primary school, and 5 in every secondary school ( Epilepsy Action).

This course is suitable for you/your staff if you:

  • Work in an Early Years Setting
  • Work as an ‘at home’ childcarer
  • Childminder
  • School
  • Nursery
  • Parent Group
