Course Overview

This essential training equips caregivers with the knowledge and skills to support children with epilepsy confidently. Participants will:

• Understand what epilepsy is and recognise various seizure types.

• Learn about the different types of epilepsy

• Learn how to respond effectively and safely during a seizure.

• Identify common seizure triggers and implement preventive measures.

• Explore the impact of epilepsy on a child’s daily life and development.

• The theoretical components of administering emergency medication will be covered during the training course.

• Develop individual healthcare plans and conduct risk assessments.

• Promote inclusion and support for children with epilepsy in various settings.

• Understand the impact they each can have on individual children and how to ensure that children with epilepsy are included in all appropriate activities and how to carry out a risk assessment.

• Explore the various medication programmes children may be prescribed and the impact these may have.
