Prevention, Immediate Treatment, Applying Dressings and Aftercare

Jill Wheatcroft will be teaching this 1-hour session by zoom to groups on a pre-agreed date

Why This Session Matters:

Latest figures from the NHS show that there have been 35,000 admissions to hospital in the last five years for children with severe burns.

The Royal College of Surgeons have indicated that almost half have been caused by children having too hot food or drinks or scalds from teas and coffees.

In 2018 more than 1500 children under the age of two got tea and coffee scalds. Some of these could have been entirely avoided if, for example, hot drinks are kept away from children or cords of kettles and permanent hot water tap are made inaccessible to young children.

What’s clear is that parents and childcarers need to know what to do immediately after a burn or scald occurs.

Jill Wheatcroft will be teaching a 1-hour session covering Prevention, Immediate Treatment, Applying Dressings and Aftercare. The same procedures can also be used in the care of adults who have suffered a burn or scald.
